Vintage Wedding Inspiration

December 19, 2014

VINTAGE. Fashion nowadays has been really popular with the vintage theme and turned to previous eras for inspiration. It supposed to be clothing from past era which has been retained and increased in value. Also, authentic garments usually are made one at a time, with enough attention and detail to create a clothing (or item) that has long lasting value.

In Indonesian though, it's a rare real thing to have. Instead, garments closely resembling the style of original vintage clothing are made by order or even mass-produced. We refer that as vintage style, vintage inspired, or vintage reproductions. So, for those who admire an old style but prefer a modern interpretation could enjoy wearing it. Even if you are 'treble' or 'bass'. Ha-ha! You know what I mean.

Vintage wedding theme is pretty popular in western country, because it invokes a lot of emotion, sentiment, and sweet memories that connects the present with the past. I can say that I never once attend vintage wedding theme in Indonesia - always glamorous wedding party style. That's why it's interesting for me to blog about this wedding topic.

Same thing applied to wedding dresses. If you want to hold a vintage-themed wedding and you have your grandmother or ancestor's wedding dress, wow - you are one lucky girl! It's not only about the vintage value; I know there must be a sentimental value behind the dress. However, it's super rare. Not only that, but in some culture, it's forbidden to wear second wedding dresses. They called it a jynx, especially if the person who wore it before got a divorce or sad ending.

One famous example for vintage-style wedding gown is Kate Duchess of Cambridge's dress. Fabulous, beautiful, and elegant.  Simply gorgeous! :)

If you want a vintage-themed wedding and confuse where to get them, DresseStylist has several vintage wedding dresses. Maybe you will like it. There's a gown that caught my interest while browsing their website, here it is :

Anyway, here are some tips for vintage wedding theme preparation :

INSPIRATION. Something old, something borrowed. You can find it in your grandmother's house / story / pictures / remembrance, old attic, or even local antique shops. Choose several things that you like and take pictures of them ( if you didn't buy the things). If you bought some or found some, share with your vendors to help them understand your vision for your wedding. Choosing one thing can also become the inspiration piece and help you determine color palette or era. It can be lace, satin, heirloom china, grandmother's dress/brooch, mom's veil, etc.

STYLE. After choosing the inspiration piece, you can create your own style. The one special thing about vintage wedding theme is unique. Each person has their own past and history - no one can copy that. For example, you can combine your favorite color with the past era inspiration. The style is uniquely you. However, don't get overboard and put too many details all at once. Because it will clash and not visually beautiful. Remember, less is more.

NOSTALGIA. Vintage wedding theme is all about sentimental feeling and family tradition. Listening to your mother or grandmother's story about past weddings (how it looked like or felt like) will help you get some ideas while planning the whole things. Little details are important to get into the vintage mood.

Remember, vintage wedding is not only about the past. It's also about your present. You can choose whether you want it intimate, glamorous, modern, or chic. It's all up to you! Have fun in planning your dream wedding. If you need any help, you can just contact me! :)

Pictures by Pictura Photography

WEDDING. Wow... Time really does fly so fast. It's been a year since my wedding, but I can still remember the exact details. The bouquet, the colors, the gown, the shoes ~ really... just everything. All of them were so beautiful and magical. Even after one year, we still love each other as much. That's the most important thing though --> L.O.V.E. There's no wedding without love. Although he's not as romantic as before. Ha-ha! We have already passed that. The most important thing is he's a loving husband and father. Gosh! I love my hubby so much >.<

May we have a blissful wedding forever! <3

If you read all of my previous blog posts, you will know that lately I love talking about wedding gown and dresses. It's my favorite topic of all time. It's one of the things that makes the bride shining for that one special night. Even though I'm already married to a wonderful man, but why not helping other bride-to-be to get a wedding gown reference for the latest trend. Maybe this will help me find a business opportunity in real life, who knows. But for now, I'm a full time mother and my main focus is my little girl ~ Freya. Oh... and my dear hubby- of course (how could I forget lol)! Everything else can wait! ^^

The one thing that I love the most is my wedding gown. You can only choose once and it will last in your memory forever. So, you have to be careful and have to be certain while choosing it. You have to really really love it and know that (this is it!) this is my dream wedding gown. Just like what I thought about mine. I will try to find my wedding gown details later. I can't seem to find my wedding pictures CD. Ughhhh.... Maybe I left it on my parents-in-law's home when I moved to our new house. I pretty much left my things here and there. Okay, so now you learn another thing about me - I'm super messy which driving my hubby crazy. Ha-ha!

Anyway, I found a wedding website that super stylish and up-to-date with the latest style - DresseStylist. They especially have one page full of amazing dresses for next year wedding --> wedding dresses 2015 UK. As you know, you have to be prepared for next year trend, if you will get married next year. You don't want to be out-of-date. Dear you soon-to-be bride >.< , you have to check their website out. I know that you won't regret it. Here is a sneak peek :

Hair Extensions

December 9, 2014

Pictures by Fernando Prasetyo

HAIR EXTENSIONS. I always want long hair, but you know... the hot weather in Surabaya makes it impossible. I mean it's just me who can't stand it. so I always cut my hair into medium-length. Curly hair like mine not making it easier either. When I wash my hair, it quite long. But after I dry my hair, well... it becomes shorter. Here is my real hair :

Luckily, hair extensions could help me! Whenever I'm in the mood for long hair or super long hair, it's just a clip away! The application process is easy and I could do it by myself. I love the real human hair extensions, it could blend perfectly well with my hair. No one could guess that it's not my real hair.

Next, maybe I want to change my hair color - so I need to buy new hair exensions. Maybe kinda like this color.

How do you think about that auburn color? Will it suit me? >.<

I found this one cool website, CC HAIR EXTENSIONS. They sell various range of hair extensions and have a lot of good reviews. I'm not really fluent in speaking English - better at writing than conversation. So, I put up this video that I found about the hair extensions review. I hope it could help all of you!

So, how about you? Have you ever tried hair extensions?

After Pregnancy

October 24, 2014

AFTER PREGNANCY. So... I gave birth to my daughter one and a half month ago - it was the happiest day of my life! I will share the post about it with all of you soon. I'm pretty much busy with taking care of my little one.

In Chinese tradition, I'm not allowed to go out for one month in order to avoid getting sick (mainly to avoid wind) - unless go to the doctor to check up my c-section scar and my baby's vaccination. In that one month, if you are strong enough, you shouldn't wash your hair. It's good for your health later (when you are old). Luckily, I was strong enough, even though it kinda make me feel frustrated. Ha-ha! Dry shampoo did help a lot, though!

With that, there was no way I could take outfit posts. >.< My hair was a mess and the c-section scar was still hurt too. I was also adjusting my new life. Taking care my little one isn't easy, but I enjoy every second of it. Watching her always bring a smile to my lips. Oh my! I can't wait to share all about her on my next post. She will become a big part of this blog! Maybe it's time for me to change my blog name. I'm not a miss anymore, but it can wait. I need to find a much more suitable name to represent the blog first.

Now, I'm pretty much ready to go out there and back to the fashion game. My first move is to write this post. Secondly, I will bring all my old clothing collections from my parents' home. Lol! A lot of my stuff is still there. The only things I have in my closet here is my maternity clothes. I moved to my new house when I was pregnant (around three months or so), so I was thinking there would be no point in bringing too many clothes that I wouldn't wear for months. But now, I'm in desperate need to get them back. Ha-ha!

The next thing is there will be a lot of wedding parties to attend to and so... I will need gown, gown, and more gown. Lately, I love wearing long prom gowns, somehow it makes me feel mature and I also love the flowy feeling when wearing them.

Here are a few examples of gowns that caught my eyes :

Aren't those gowns look so beautiful? They are stunningly sexy and yet elegant. That's the message that I want to get across when I go to a wedding party.

I'm thinking to bring my little one with me sometimes. So, it means matching dress! Thinking of it makes me feel so excited. Baby girl is certainly mommy's little fashion project! >.<

So... how about you? Do you love wearing what kind of gown to a party? What kind of message do you want to get across with the way you dress up? A penny for your thought ~ ^^
