LACE. Lace is a timeless material that will never go out of style. It's classic and elegant, that's why lace is being incorporated in many aspects of weddings - everything from the wedding dresses to the wedding cake and the decorations. The amazing thing about lace is that touches of lace can be added to any wedding theme effectively.

Lace is usually number one choice for any vintage weddings. It can be said that the couple who choose lace as their wedding theme are nostalgic, sophisticated, and romantic. This is a wedding theme that usually represent the more traditional couple. Lace can evoke a theme that will be remembered as a real classic wedding. It's an excellent decoration element.

Here are a few things in which lace can be used as a decoration or element on your wedding day :

WEDDING INVITATION. Adding lace to your invitation can create an elegant look. It's not popular to use stripes of black lace for Chinese people, since it's the color of death - it means it can bring bad luck to the wedding, but actually it could create cool look. I didn't dare to use this color though, because the elders from my family will surely disagree. Anyway, if you choose Vintage or maybe Shabby Chic theme, ivory or creamy white lace will be the perfect choice for you. Truthfully, I myself prefer the white or ivory lace - more refined and elegant in my opinion.

SWEET CORNER. You can implement the lace design on your little snacks on sweet corner. Just like on the picture above, it create an elegant little snacks look to complete your wedding decoration. Little details just like this is also very important and sweet.

TABLE DECORATION. There are a lot of choice to implement the lace decoration on this part. The easiest thing is table cloth made of lace. Other options are table numbers, place cards, menu cards can bear the mark of the laced wedding theme. Ah... don't forget about napkins small holders or vases wrapped with the same fabric as the table cloth or seats decorated with a lace scarf. But please, don't use too much lace - you should limit to a small number of decorative elements, otherwise it will look too cheesy.

WEDDING BOUQUET. A touch of lace can bring a charming bridal bouquet. Just wrap it with a lace ribbon - it's simply magical! If you want to create a uniform look between the bridal couple, use the same element on the jewelry for groom's lapel.

WEDDING CAKE. Wedding cake can be designed full of lace or a mixture of lace and flowers. It's a timeless choice that will never go out of style. All white lace wedding cake is stunning for a simple wedding and for glamorous wedding, you can add sparkling rhinestone. A white lace design on top of a soft colored frosting will showcase the decorative patterns to your wedding cake.

WEDDING DRESS. Lace wedding dress is ultra-romantic and can be sexy at the same time. It can be designed with an open or low back, with lots of intricate detailing. Not only that, wedding veils, jackets, and shawls are also can be made with more lace detailing, making it easy to add that little bit of class to your wedding dress, no matter what kind of style that you choose. If you choose lace wedding dress, then accessories can be left to a minimum - perhaps just one fabulous piece, otherwise it will look too much. Just like the wedding cake, shiny rhinestones are a stunning look up next to the soft lace fabric. An example of simple lace wedding dresses from DresseStylist down here is my favorite.

Anyway, even though we all love beautiful lace, not all elements can look beautiful with all white color. So, you will want to add one other color to show your lace accessories to the very best. Pastel colors will fit perfectly and create soft bridal look. However, it doesn't mean you can't add a touch of stronger colors here and there. You can also integrate lace with a color that puts all your theme together - maybe greens of nature. There is unlimited way to play with lace. Just your your creativity and imagination! :D

Beach Wedding Inspiration

December 25, 2014

Pictures by Pictura Photography

BEACH. Who doesn't like beach? You can kick off your shoes, feeling the sand between your toes. Let's not forget how you can enjoy some fun in the sun and watch the beautiful seaside sunset to end the day off. Beach is one location that's perfect for a small, simple, and beautifully natural wedding.

Beach wedding is started to get popular in Indonesia. The number one destination - of course Bali. But be creative and find another location - if you want. Indonesia has a lot of beautiful untouched beach which has yet to be found. One suggestion from me is Maratua Island where we held our prewedding photoshoot. You can find the detail on my prewedding sneak peek. However, the journey to the island is pretty far and rough, but in the end, you will enjoy the journey. The place is really worth it! It's so... beautiful! :)

Here are a few tips to plan your dream beach wedding :

LOCATION. The first thing to do is choose and scout out the location. You should choose based on your wedding style and the number of your guest lists. If you've chosen a beach that requires a journey for most people, you should ask your guests one by one - who will be able to come. Ask the detail about permit fees, container laws, and so on.

BE FLEXIBLE. Mother nature works in mysterious ways which unpredictable. Always have a back-up plan in place for whatever she throws your way. It's important to have schedule (which is usually made by the event-organizer or maybe you made it yourself), but do have a second one just-in-case something happened. For example, if you need to delay the wedding ceremony because of the rain.

EVENT ORGANIZER. Choose a reliable wedding event organizer who specializes in beach wedding or already held a similar wedding before. They can help you choosing the best local vendors ( or maybe if you want to use vendors from your city) for you.

ABOUT YOUR GUESTS. Work with your event organizer regarding their accommodations and ask them to give a person in charge for this specific duty. It's important, especially if you hold a wedding in a new beach (read : the beach that they never go/know before). On the wedding day, place a guide to make sure guests know how to find where the wedding ceremony is being held.

INSPIRATION. Go to the beach and use your surroundings as your inspiration. Choose a certain item as your main focus. For example, shell. Here are some pictures that using shells as an inspiration for bouquets, shell place tags, and seashell candles:

DRESS. Choose your dress style. Whether you want casual, bare feet, summer dress kind of events - or - you want to add touches of elegance and refinement just like the dress that I choose for my prewedding. It's all back at what you want. DresseStylist has several beach wedding dresses to grab. Here is my favorite one :

Remember, just like I said before. This is your wedding. Whether it's beach wedding or vintage wedding, the wedding is all about you and your groom. Add your own personal touch. For example, based on your personality. If you are a glamorous girl to start with, plan a glamorous wedding that suit your style. If you are just a simple and laid back girl, why not make the wedding simple but intimate? The choice is yours to begin with. :)

Vintage Wedding Inspiration

December 19, 2014

VINTAGE. Fashion nowadays has been really popular with the vintage theme and turned to previous eras for inspiration. It supposed to be clothing from past era which has been retained and increased in value. Also, authentic garments usually are made one at a time, with enough attention and detail to create a clothing (or item) that has long lasting value.

In Indonesian though, it's a rare real thing to have. Instead, garments closely resembling the style of original vintage clothing are made by order or even mass-produced. We refer that as vintage style, vintage inspired, or vintage reproductions. So, for those who admire an old style but prefer a modern interpretation could enjoy wearing it. Even if you are 'treble' or 'bass'. Ha-ha! You know what I mean.

Vintage wedding theme is pretty popular in western country, because it invokes a lot of emotion, sentiment, and sweet memories that connects the present with the past. I can say that I never once attend vintage wedding theme in Indonesia - always glamorous wedding party style. That's why it's interesting for me to blog about this wedding topic.

Same thing applied to wedding dresses. If you want to hold a vintage-themed wedding and you have your grandmother or ancestor's wedding dress, wow - you are one lucky girl! It's not only about the vintage value; I know there must be a sentimental value behind the dress. However, it's super rare. Not only that, but in some culture, it's forbidden to wear second wedding dresses. They called it a jynx, especially if the person who wore it before got a divorce or sad ending.

One famous example for vintage-style wedding gown is Kate Duchess of Cambridge's dress. Fabulous, beautiful, and elegant.  Simply gorgeous! :)

If you want a vintage-themed wedding and confuse where to get them, DresseStylist has several vintage wedding dresses. Maybe you will like it. There's a gown that caught my interest while browsing their website, here it is :

Anyway, here are some tips for vintage wedding theme preparation :

INSPIRATION. Something old, something borrowed. You can find it in your grandmother's house / story / pictures / remembrance, old attic, or even local antique shops. Choose several things that you like and take pictures of them ( if you didn't buy the things). If you bought some or found some, share with your vendors to help them understand your vision for your wedding. Choosing one thing can also become the inspiration piece and help you determine color palette or era. It can be lace, satin, heirloom china, grandmother's dress/brooch, mom's veil, etc.

STYLE. After choosing the inspiration piece, you can create your own style. The one special thing about vintage wedding theme is unique. Each person has their own past and history - no one can copy that. For example, you can combine your favorite color with the past era inspiration. The style is uniquely you. However, don't get overboard and put too many details all at once. Because it will clash and not visually beautiful. Remember, less is more.

NOSTALGIA. Vintage wedding theme is all about sentimental feeling and family tradition. Listening to your mother or grandmother's story about past weddings (how it looked like or felt like) will help you get some ideas while planning the whole things. Little details are important to get into the vintage mood.

Remember, vintage wedding is not only about the past. It's also about your present. You can choose whether you want it intimate, glamorous, modern, or chic. It's all up to you! Have fun in planning your dream wedding. If you need any help, you can just contact me! :)

December 11, 2014

Pictures by Pictura Photography

WEDDING. Wow... Time really does fly so fast. It's been a year since my wedding, but I can still remember the exact details. The bouquet, the colors, the gown, the shoes ~ really... just everything. All of them were so beautiful and magical. Even after one year, we still love each other as much. That's the most important thing though --> L.O.V.E. There's no wedding without love. Although he's not as romantic as before. Ha-ha! We have already passed that. The most important thing is he's a loving husband and father. Gosh! I love my hubby so much >.<

May we have a blissful wedding forever! <3

If you read all of my previous blog posts, you will know that lately I love talking about wedding gown and dresses. It's my favorite topic of all time. It's one of the things that makes the bride shining for that one special night. Even though I'm already married to a wonderful man, but why not helping other bride-to-be to get a wedding gown reference for the latest trend. Maybe this will help me find a business opportunity in real life, who knows. But for now, I'm a full time mother and my main focus is my little girl ~ Freya. Oh... and my dear hubby- of course (how could I forget lol)! Everything else can wait! ^^

The one thing that I love the most is my wedding gown. You can only choose once and it will last in your memory forever. So, you have to be careful and have to be certain while choosing it. You have to really really love it and know that (this is it!) this is my dream wedding gown. Just like what I thought about mine. I will try to find my wedding gown details later. I can't seem to find my wedding pictures CD. Ughhhh.... Maybe I left it on my parents-in-law's home when I moved to our new house. I pretty much left my things here and there. Okay, so now you learn another thing about me - I'm super messy which driving my hubby crazy. Ha-ha!

Anyway, I found a wedding website that super stylish and up-to-date with the latest style - DresseStylist. They especially have one page full of amazing dresses for next year wedding --> wedding dresses 2015 UK. As you know, you have to be prepared for next year trend, if you will get married next year. Hair Extensions

December 9, 2014

Pictures by Fernando Prasetyo

HAIR EXTENSIONS. I always want long hair, but you know... the hot weather in Surabaya makes it impossible. I mean it's just me who can't stand it. so I always cut my hair into medium-length. Curly hair like mine not making it easier either. When I wash my hair, it quite long. But after I dry my hair, well... it becomes shorter. Here is my real hair :

Luckily, hair extensions could help me! Whenever I'm in the mood for long hair or super long hair, it's just a clip away! The application process is easy and I could do it by myself. I love the real human hair extensions, it could blend perfectly well with my hair. No one could guess that it's not my real hair.

Next, maybe I want to change my hair color - so I need to buy new hair exensions. Maybe kinda like this color.

How do you think about that auburn color? Will it suit me? >.<

I found this one cool website, CC HAIR EXTENSIONS. They sell various range of hair extensions and have a lot of good reviews. I'm not really fluent in speaking English - better at writing than conversation. So, I put up this video that I found about the hair extensions review. I hope it could help all of you!

So, how about you? Have you ever tried hair extensions?
